Well, these are definitely biscuits and not cakes. Found in Sainsbury's and not seen in other shops yet, although we don't do big shops really so they might be out there.
These are very much in the style of the caramel chocolate digestive with a thin layer underneath the chocolate which provides the flavour. These are more orange tasting than Jaffa Cakes but don't possess the jam-like consistency so there's no taking the chocolate off first, then the jam, leaving just the sponge if that's your kind of thing.
As you'd expect the digestive biscuit is good, nice crunch and flavour to it, it doesn't taste like it's been altered and McVities chocolate fits as well with it as it does on the standard choc digestive.
Ultimately though, if you offered me a packet of these or a packet of Jaffa Cakes, I'd take the cakes and demolish them in one go. I'd say you'd eat these 3-4 at a time rather than the packet. Notwithstanding that, they get a 7.5/10.
